Hardwood
Importing
Roger Haydock & Co Ltd has been importing timber since 1875.
We offer ‘cut to length’ components for assembling,
a speciality. Bespoke machining to customers and special patterns.
We have extensive milling facilities from surfaced to size to
large window and door sections.
We have a comprehensive stock of temperate and tropical hardwoods;
these are carefully researched and chosen for their sustainable
sources. We have a large stock holding of joinery and furniture
grade quality, British Hardwood species, a large range of North
American species and increasingly FSC timber.
Our Environmental Policy forms
the framework of our dedication to sustainability and against
such practices as illegal logging etc. As members of the Timber
Trade Federation we comply with the cutting edge of sustainable
forest management principles.
We are experts in Prime Square Edge European Boards and Squares.
We also stock Spindle Blanks.
:: Oak – both American and European – a speciality
:: Sapele – with beautiful grain whose red colour is very
popular
:: Maple – hard white
:: Cherry – warm and good to work
:: Beech – traditional European quality furniture material
:: Utile - a strong and durable hardwood
:: Meranti – specialist use – red
:: Tulipwood – an easily worked American hardwood, takes
stain well.
Over the last thirty years we have diversified into Hardwoods,
steadily increasing the range of temperate and tropical timbers
and now encompassing more than twenty different species from
around the globe.
As members of the Timber Trade Federation we comply with their
criteria regarding Environmental Policy. This forms the basis
for our purchasing policy of buying from sustainable sources
wherever possible.
From our extensive stockholding we are able to offer most species
in thickness from 1” to 4”. As well as offering
sawn boards we are also able to offer a comprehensive machining
facility to cater for bespoke machining to customers’
special patterns.
Hardwood now account for more than 50% of the core business.
Before steel, concrete, bricks and stone, people used wood.
Properly (responsibly) handled wood is not only lighter in weight,
but machines to a fine finish due to its durability.
It brings man into direct contact with his environment, a natural
product that lives on the same planet as mankind.
